Cherutombo High School & The  Junior Council

The primary purpose of the Zimbabwean Junior Councils is to empower young people by involving them in local governance and community development. At Cherutombo High School, we believe in providing a platform for youth to engage in decision-making processes, advocate for their rights, and foster positive change within our community.

Key Objectives of the Junior Council:

  1. Civic Engagement and Leadership Development:
Our Junior Council offers a structured environment where students can learn about local governance, actively participate in decision-making, and develop essential leadership skills.

  2. Advocacy and Representation:
We represent the interests and concerns of students at Cherutombo High School, advocating for our rights and needs in areas such as education, health, and social welfare.

  3. Community Development:
The Junior Council is dedicated to participating in community development initiatives. We work on projects that focus on environmental protection, social welfare, and other important issues impacting our community.

  4. Capacity Building:
We conduct activities aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of our peers, empowering them to become active and informed citizens.

  5. Intergenerational Learning:
Through events organized by the National Junior Councils Association of Zimbabwe (NJCA), such as the Junior Council and Parliament Alumni conference, we promote intergenerational learning and mentorship among young people.

In summary, the Junior Council at Cherutombo High School plays a vital role in nurturing a generation of young leaders who are actively engaged in shaping our community and contributing to the development of Zimbabwe. We invite all students to join us in making a difference!
